The large Arena housing estate in Officer contains many pretty paths, wetlands, playgrounds & a platform with scenic views over the area. This walk links a number of them to create an easy circuit suitable for most members of the family. The walk starts at a wetland, where there are usually plenty of birds to see, including the many insanely acrobatic swallows.
From the starting point, walk towards Arena Parade, turn right and follow the path as it circles the wetlands and then turns to run parallel to the train line. Continue until you reach the football ovals then turn right onto Madison Place. Follow the footpath past both ovals & up to the playground, then cut through and turn right onto Arena Parade. At Huntingdale St.cross over the road, & go up the steps into Arena Park. Walk through the park and along the pretty avenue of trees until you reach another small green space with a viewing platform that has distant views over the surrounding area. Next, on the opposite side of Arena Parade there is a path that makes its way back down to the first path to near the wetlands, crossing a few small roads along the way. Turn left and it will take you back to the path you started on, or follow the path then walk to the left of the wetlands past the houses for a slightly different perspective.
The path is flat for most of the walk with a couple of gently sloping sections, nice and wide, and mostly small gravel or paved, suitable for prams or bikes.
