Cardinia Reservoir Dam Wall - Emerald

Updated: Oct 2

The park is open to the public during daylight hours, so times vary throughout the year. It can be accessed from Wellington Road or Red Hill Road. A one-way road loops around the main areas of the park.

It is home to several groups of wild kangaroos which are best seen early in the morning or late afternoon. Note: Feeding and approaching kangaroos are strictly prohibited & be sure to stay at a safe distance away from them.

This popular walk along the dam wall provides spectacular views across the park and to the hills & beyond. It's a lovely walk whatever the weather or time of day. It follows the line of the dam wall with the water on one side and a very steep drop along most of the other side.

Hint: Don't look if you aren't good with heights and keep the kids close at hand. Being exposed it can get a bit windy too.

The path is flat, nice, wide, and mostly gravel or paved, suitable for prams or bikes.

Starting Point: The large car park on the left, not far from the main entrance gate at the top of the dam wall.

Distance: 3.2km

Toilets: Within the park but not on the walk itself:

Crystal Brook Picnic Area & Playground (currently a bank of portables)

Duffy's Lookout Picnic area (currently closed)

Dogs: Allowed (On Leash Only)
